NAME: Nyx
In Character
Name: Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Fandom: Trigun (anime)
History or Personality:
Nicholas is from a desert planet, and is an orphan. He was raised by a guardian that he hated, though we're never told specifically why this is the case. When he was young, maybe 10 at the most, he shot his guardian and was taken in by the mysterious Chapel.
Chapel was a priest, and a member of the elite mercenary group, the Gung-Ho Guns. He had a very impressive cross, that turn into a wide variety of weapons. Wolfwood learned how to fight, shoot, and tend to the Lord's flocks under Chapel. Eventually, he leaves and starts and orphanage. With this responsibility, Wolfwood sets out into the world, to make money to keep the children safe and fed.
Knives, the main villain of the anime, eventually hired Wolfwood (who had his own amazing cross/machine gun/rocket launcher/many many guns at this point), to track down Vash the Stampede, and herd the man (who is the hero of the anime, and Knives's brother), toward Knives.
Along the way, Wolfwood befriends Vash and the two kick a lot of ass together. It falls apart in the end, when Wolfwood betrays not only one of his own core principles (to never hurt a child), but Vash's as well, by shooting a child possessed by a demon. The fact that he did it to save Vash didn't cut him any slack, and both men feel terrible about the event.
In the morning, Wolfwood would beat Chapel finally, and take the old priest's place among the Gung-Ho Guns. He then refuses to fulfill his task (which was to kill Vash), and also refuses to kill Chapel, though the old man then proceeds to kill him pretty thoroughly.
Thankfully, Wolfwood will be saved all this nonsense, because he'll be kidnapped after leaving his hotel in the morning, before meeting Chapel
Any special abilities:
He's an excellent gunman.
Being a priest, he has belief in Jesus and God (though more to have someone to complain at and blame than anything else), which will repel vampires who are repelled by that sort of thing.
